Fostering Sustainability On University Campuses
Borrow from Lunchbox Lending Programme to help reduce single-use disposables

To encourage students and staff to rethink their consumption behaviour, the Programme allows users to conveniently borrow a cleaned reusable meal container from our lending machines. It even helps you save money charged by caterers on disposables—making it a breeze even for goldfish personalities!

Since the Programme’s launch across 8 universities in Hong Kong, it has helped save a total of 33,340+ disposable containers from being landfilled. Together, we’re co-creating a more sustainable campus!

Saving water at student halls through behaviour activated showerheads

To encourage students to conserve precious freshwater resources like mammoth would, selected halls on our campus have behaviour activated showerheads installed. They light up in different colours to show users how much water’s been used in their shower—with the red light indicating the highest water usage.

Across 8 university campuses’ 21 residential buildings, the initiative’s seen a 14.2% reduction in freshwater consumption! We can all establish sustainable habits to prevent water from being flushed down the drain - check out our website for more water conservation tips!

Smart electricity meters installed at selected halls

Real time electricity data is measured by smart electricity meters at selected halls to help better monitor electricity usage, which is accessible by the Internet of Things (IOT) data platform. The transparency of such data aims to help the student community be more conscious of their electricity consumption, and encourage change like chameleon! Click below to find out more how we can use our resources smartly to lower our impact.
