HKUST Industry Engagement Day 2022

On 7 November, 50+ HKUST research teams and 400+ elites from industry and academia will be engaged to innovate on the UST campus. The full-day program consists of a symposium, breakout sessions, showcases, networking and lab visits, with topics spanning 4 focus areas:

  • Sustainability and Smart Living
  • Medical and Biotechnology
  • Semiconductor, Sensors and Microelectronics
  • Big Data, AI, Fintech and Robotics

30 for 30 Research Initiative Scheme

The 2022/23 VPRDO Research Assistant Professors Scheme (VPRDO RAP Scheme) aims at attracting young talents who can bring new ideas to the University; enhancing UST's research capabilities and strengths. An invitation was sent to School Deans and IPO Director for nomination. Interested parties please check with your department/division for more details.

HKUST Postdoctoral Fellowship Matching Fund

The HKUST Post-Doctoral Fellowship Matching Fund (PDF Matching Fund) provides support for post-doctoral fellows in all disciplinary areas of knowledge-based research with an emphasis on individual-type projects. The PDF Matching Fund helps research teams to upgrade their research personnel to achieve a higher goal or level of productivity. Visit the VPRDO funding page for details.

AWARDS & NOMINATIONS

Xplorer Prize 2022


Prof. FAN Zhiyong, Professor of Electronic & Computer Engineering and Chemical & Biological Engineering, was named an awardee of the Xplorer Prize 2022 (科學探索獎) in the field of advanced interdisciplinary studies. Supported by Tencent Foundation, the award encourages young scientists (aged 45 or below) in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau to research unexplored areas of basic sciences and frontier technologies. Each awardee will receive RMB 3 million over a period of 5 years, which is among the highest in talent funding programs for young scientists in China. Prof. Fan is one of only 2 recipients from Hong Kong, among 50 awardees in 10 fields this year.
